Volunteer search for missing Onslow child at capacity

ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office is not accepting anymore volunteers in the search for 3-year-old Mariah Woods.

According to a news release, they are overwhelmed by the public’s support, but unfortunately, have run out of room for any additional volunteers.

“We understand you may be disappointed, but if people continue to show up, it would delay or interfere with the work we are trying to do,” it reads. “We may plan additional volunteer searches in the coming days.”

The child was reported missing early Monday morning. She was last seen Sunday night when she went to bed. Since then, the FBI and several local agencies have been on the ground and in the air searching for her.

Today is the first day they opened the search up to the public.
