CHARLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — It looks like a deal is finalized in Charlotte for a new owner of the Carolina Panthers. After months of record-setting bidding, David Tepper reportedly reached an agreement to purchase the Panthers.
Today our affiliate station in Binghamton, NY reported hedge fund manager David Tepper has finalized a deal between $2.1 and $2.5 billion dollars to become the new owner of Carolina’s team.
Reports emerged last week with Tepper, a minority owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, was the front-runner and the favorite amongst current NFL owners.
If an agreement is set, the owners can make the sale official with a vote at next weeks owners meeting in Atlanta, GA.
Current Panthers owner Jerry Richardson put the team up for sale in December amid an NFL investigation into allegations of sexual and racial workplace misconduct.
