OPA! Fill up on food, share culture at annual Greek Festival
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — OPA! The tents are up, drinks are flowing, and food is grilling! The Greek Festival kicked off Friday.
The 26th Annual Greek Festival is at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church on South College Road in Wilmington.
The festival shares its culture, delicious food, music and much more.
One woman says she has been coming to the festival with her family since she was three years old. Her favorite thing about the tradition is the food.
“I always get a gyro,” Katy Chapman said. “I have to get a lamb gyro and it’s the best. They have a lot of food. I’m not really sure what they even are but they taste good.”
The festival runs all weekend long.
It is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
If you don’t have time to stop, they even have a drive thru to grab some gyros to go.
