UNCW classes to resume Monday for most students
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW announced that classes will resume Monday for most students.
According to a news release Tuesday, most students may move back into their residence halls beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Residence halls will not be accessible before then.
Due to ongoing work in Galloway Hall and Cornerstone Hall, those buildings will not be ready for students to move back into until Saturday, October 6.
UNCW says those affected residents will be receiving a separate communication shortly with additional information, including details on the work being done in their buildings.
“We have done everything in our power over the past week-plus to try to secure safe and secure local temporary housing for those displaced students, but with the number of area residents who lost their homes, and the influx of contractors sent into Wilmington for relief efforts, there is simply no extra space to be found,” the university said in the release.
Faculty will be asked to work with students affected by these challenges to make up lost instructional time.
“Once we have finalized a plan, in collaboration with faculty leadership, our deans will be in touch with faculty, who will then reach out to to students before classes resume,” UNCW says.
