Christmas trees are family tradition, boost to business

HAYWOOD COUNTY, NC (WLOS) — Believe it or not, people are already picking out Christmas trees at mountain tree farms.

Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm near Maggie Valley is setting up for the season. Operators say people often come from out of state with their kids and make a family tradition out of the experience.

Patrick Leitner and his family come from South Carolina and stay for a week at one of the farm’s cabins.

“We’ve been doing this for about 5 years,” Leitner said.
