NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man and two teens have been charged in connection with a shooting in New Hanover County that injured one person.

Veshon Shaw, 23, and Nasir Leonard and Jaquarious Washington made their first appearances in court this afternoon.

They were arrested in connection with with yesterday’s shooting on Grathwol Drive where a stray bullet hit a man who was driving through the area with his child. New Hanover County Sheriff Ed McMahon said shortly after the shooting, Wilmington Police stopped a vehicle that matched a description of one used in the shooting.

The Sheriff said Leonard, Washington, and Shaw were inside. Investigators said they also had guns, marijuana and heroin on them. The Sheriff said these men are not legally allowed to carry firearms because two are underage and one is a convicted felon.
“Unacceptable behavior. We will continue investigating this. We will not stop until everyone involved is in jail and then our plan is that they will be going to prison for a long time,” said McMahon.

McMahon said there was another vehicle reported at the scene. He said they are still looking for others who may have been involved in the shooting.
