UNCW students discuss religion and politics, and guest pastor talks faith
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW’S Ratio Christi student organization hosted Charlotte Pastor Bobby Conway Wednesday night. Conway spoke about faith.
Conway is the pastor at LIFE Fellowship Church near Charlotte. He spoke about how people can lose faith because of doubts they might have about Christianity.
“People have to come to terms with that this is no longer the so-called Christian nation that they once lived in and it’s resulted in their faiths bumping up to other faiths,” said Conway.
Emma Hilton, president of the Ratio Christi group, said they are a Christian apologetics organization.
“What we do is use things like reason, logic and history, and science to look at our faith, so we are able to defend Christianity,” said Hilton.
With the presidential candidate race heating up after the Iowa Caucuses we took the opportunity to discuss religion and politics with students.
While they weren’t there to talk about the presidential race or politics, Grant Forrester, vice-president of the organization, said a political figure must understand all religions.
“In the essence of standing in front of an entire country you need to understand what everyone believes in so you can make a better judgement call for decisions that you want to make.”
