Warrants go into detail of fmr. officer’s alleged crimes


NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — On March 17 Joseph Adam Silva was arrested and charged with second degree sexual offense and on March 24 he was arrested again, this time for a number of felonies.

Silva has been charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer, child abuse, embezzlement and burglary.
According to warrants Silva presented several women with a badge and ID stating he was a law enforcement officer working on a prostitution sting for both Wilmington Police and the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.
The warrants say he showed the women a gun and threatened to have them arrested if they did not perform sex acts.

Silva is also accused of not returning $4,000 of equipment from when he was a reserve officer in Carolina Beach according to the warrant for a felony embezzlement charge.

Silva was on the Carolina Beach force from March of 2015 through September of that same year.
