Folks gather along busy Wilmington road for ‘Stand Against Racism’ event
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Dozens stood along South College Road today to stand up to racism.
District Attorney Ben David also spoke about the importance of the campaign. Law enforcement and community members stood outside the YWCA as a part of the national campaign. Kelly Williams with the YWCA says it’s an important message that needs to be spread.
“For us it’s really important that there is a big mixture of women and men of all racial creeds and ethnic background, because that’s really what ‘Stand Against Racism’ is all about,” Williams said. “We can’t make changes unless people from all walks of life come together to have important conversations.”
The week-long event ended today.
