Hundreds walk to find cure for multiple sclerosis

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — More than 475 people walked around Greenfield Lake Saturday to raise awareness for multiple sclerosis, MS.

Walk MS is an opportunity for people living with MS and those who care about them to connect, and raise funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Emily Silva, National MS Society Development Coordinator for Walk MS, says it’s a gift to be able to meet families impacted by MS.

“Getting to see these people, getting to interact with these people whether they have MS or they are walking for someone they love, this is what it is all about,” Silva said. “It’s really cool to see everyone and interact with them.”

The organization is hoping to meet their goal of raising $67,000 by May 18.

Since 1988, Walk MS has raised more than $920 million to fund critical research and life-changing services to help people with MS live their best lives.
