34 marijuana plants seized during drug bust
WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) – After a year-long investigation, the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office seized dozens of marijuana plants during a drug bust.
The investigation began after getting information during a previous Vice-Narcotics Operation.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Vice-Narcotics Detectives searched Richard Norris’ home, property and neighboring property.
During the investigation, Vice-Narcotics Detectives discovered Norris was growing marijuana plants on an adjacent property. Detectives also found marijuana plants inside of his home. Investigators say Norris was using his home to cure the harvested product.
Detectives seized 34 marijuana plants during the search. The plants ranged in height from 4′ to 7′. The total weigh was approximately 6 lbs. The marijuana being cured inside of the home was also seized. The total weight of the cured marijuana was approximately 5 lbs. In all, 11 lbs of marijuana was seized.
Richard Norris was arrested and placed under a $10,000 bond.
He is out of jail.
