Kentucky Derby themed event helps animals without homes
Wilmington, NC (WWAY)– On Saturday, the North Carolina Seaside Animal Rescue, and Broomtail Craft Brewery, teamed up for a fundraiser event to raise awareness about pet adoptions.
“Barks, Bowties, and Brews” was a Kentucky derby-themed event to showcase the many pets up for adoption. Located on Amsterdam Way in Wilmington, Broomtail Craft showcased local vendors, music, adoptable pets, and dog contests to help animals without a home.
Blake Brown, the co-director of North Carolina Seaside Animal Rescue, explained why an event like this is needed in the state.
“In North Carolina, we have an overabundance of animals who need our help. Our streets are overpopulated; our shelters are overcrowded, and we lose lives every single day. Being able to be in rescue, and do what we do, it helps us save those souls that would have been forgotten if weren’t for people who do what we do”, said Brown.
Seaside has a full list of animals available for adoption.
