Bellamy Mansion Museum to host Wilmington history walking tours through summer

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Bellamy Mansion Museum in Wilmington will host a series of guided walking tours this spring and summer focusing on different aspects of the city’s history.
The tours, titled “Past Meets Pavement,” will be held on select Saturdays beginning March 21 and continuing through Aug. 15. Each tour will begin at 9 a.m. at the Bellamy Mansion Museum on Market Street and will be led by museum staff.
The first tour, scheduled for March 21, will focus on Wilmington’s African American heritage. Future tours will explore topics including Wilmington’s role in the American Civil War and parts of the city’s history that have been lost or largely forgotten.
Additional tour dates are April 18, May 16, June 13, July 18 and Aug. 15.
Organizers say the tours will start and end at the museum and are designed to highlight historical sites and stories connected to Wilmington’s past.
The cost is $20 per person, plus tax, and registration is required in advance online through the Bellamy Mansion Museum’s website. Space is limited, and the tours will be held rain or shine.
Organizers say the tours are open to all ages but may not be suitable for people with limited mobility.
