6 wins in a row for UNCW baseball team
WILMINGTON, NC (UNCW) — Nick Feight drove in a career-high tying five runs on four hits while Brian Mims scored four runs and finished with four hits as UNCW routed visiting East Tennessee State, 15-5, on Friday at Brooks Field.
The Seahawks tied a season-high with their sixth consecutive win and improved to 21-9 overall and 16-2 at home. The Buccaneers, meanwhile, dropped fifth straight to dip to 15-18.
Feight had a pair of bases-loaded, two-run singles in the first two innings and added a RBI single in the fifth to raise his season total to 53 RBI’s. Joining Feight and Mims with a big night at the plate was Casey Golden, who finished with three hits, including two doubles, and two RBI’s. Robbie Thorburn added two hits and two RBI and belted his first home run of the season.
Ryan Foster (7-1) was the beneficiary of the offensive explosion and earned the win. He went seven innings, walked none and struck out three.
Trey York and Blake Rowlett had two hits apiece for ETSU and Aaron Maher drove in two runs.
Starter Griffin Krieg (0-3) took the loss, allowing seven runs on six hits and four walks in 1.1 innings.

Home Runs: UNCW – Thorburn (off Koesters in the third inning, lead off)
How it happened: The Seahawks scored nine runs in the first three innings for a 9-4 lead and then broke the game open with a six-run fifth inning. Leading 7-4 after 2 1/2 innings, Robbie Thorburn homered to lead off the third and Gavin Stupienski singled home Brian Mims later in the inning for the 9-4 lead.
Inside the box score: Led by Steven Linkous doing so twice, UNCW landed its leadoff hitter on base in five innings … As ETSU tried to make a comeback, Ryan Foster and Josh Roberson combined to allow just two, two-out hits … Foster and Roberson combined to strike out the final seven outs with Roberson setting a season-high with six strikeouts … The Seahawks advanced runners in 21-of-35 opportunities … Nick Feight went 2-for-2 with four RBI’s with the bases loaded.
Notes: UNCW’s 19 hits were a season-high, eclipsing the previous mark of 17 against St. John’s (Feb. 20) … UNCW finished with seven doubles, two short of tying the school record of nine … The Seahawks had five doubles alone in the six-run fifth … Feight’s five RBI’s ties a career-high and it was his 17th multiple RBI game … Every Seahawk starter had a hit and Steven Linkous extended his hitting streak to a career-high 12 games with a lead off single.
