61-year-old man killed after being struck by CSX train

LEXINGTON, SC (AP) — The Lexington County Coroner has identified a man who was killed after being struck by a train.

WLTX-TV reports 61-year-old Homer Bennett was pronounced dead at the scene Wednesday afternoon.

According to troopers, the accident happened at approximately 3:24 p.m. Authorities say Bennett was driving a 2013 Mack dump truck traveling northbound when his vehicle collided with a CSX train traveling westbound.

No other injuries were reported.

An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
