RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot now represents the eighth largest jackpot in the history of the game.

A winner Wednesday night could claim the $775 million jackpot as an annuity or $362.5 million in cash.

“Any time you talk about one of the 10 biggest Powerball jackpots, you know it’s significant,” said Mark Michalko, chief executive officer of the N.C. Education Lottery. “What a moment that would be for some lucky North Carolinian to take that prize home tonight.”

In Monday’s drawing, a North Carolinian matched four white balls and the red Powerball to win $50,000. This winning ticket was sold at J&J Food Mart in Winston-Salem.

This drawing is the second-largest Powerball prize offered this year, trailing the $1.7 billion jackpot won in September.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
