7th annual Southport Wooden Boat Show
SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — If seven is a lucky number, there is a lot to look forward to this weekend in Southport.
The Seventh Annual Southport Wood Boat Show is scheduled for Saturday, September 24th at the Old Yacht Basin.
From fishing boats to row boats, each year the show features wooden boats from past and present.
This year, crews will even be building a wooden boat during the event.
“It is your best chance to see firsthand a variety of activities related to the heritage of this area,” said Becky Felton, the event’s co-founder. “I don’t know of anywhere else in this area where you can see so many things related to what this area used to be, which was a a working water town.“
Aside from an up close look at the area’s history, there are several other events aimed to please the whole family.
Kids will be able to build and sail small boats at the children’s activity tent.
Boat rides will also be available.
Make sure to come hungry. The Frying Pan restaurant’s award winning seafood chowder will be served for $5 a bowl.
Admission into the boat show is free.
