9-year-old continues holiday tradition with 5th annual Salute to Veterans Christmas Card drive
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The holidays are fast approaching and one child from Snead’s Ferry is continuing his unique way of spreading cheer to veterans.
Tucker Rose is holding his 5th Salute to Veterans Christmas Card drive.
Last year, the 9-year-old received and handed out nearly 2,600 cards to veterans at the VA Home in Kinston.
This year, Rose hopes to collect more than 3,000 donated cards. Since starting in 2020, he has collected and donated over 6,000 cards.
Tucker’s father, Daniel, said its great seeing how receiving even one Christmas card can make a veteran’s holiday brighter.
“Encouraging to participate, that sometimes its just that easy to make a difference,” Rose said. “You know, some people sit back and say well I want to do something but I don’t know how. And this is a little boy saying well all you have to do is write a Christmas card and I’ll do the rest.”
You can mail cards to Tucker by sending them to PO Box 624, Sneads Ferry, NC 28460.
You can also drop off cards at several locations:
- Ignition Sports Cards in Wilmington
- Down East Marketplace in Jacksonville,
- New River Harley Davidson in Jacksonville and,
- Saigon Sam’s Military Surplus in Jacksonville
Tucker will be collecting cards through Christmas Eve.
