90-year-old man saves wife from fire

RANDOLPH COUNTY, NC (WFMY) — A 90-year-old man saved his bride of 68 years from a fire, after lightning struck their home.

Arthur and Rosemary Schneider met during World War II, through a correspondence. The Navy veteran and his wife shared a home on Old Lexington Road for half of their nearly seven decade long marriage. Half of their house and memories were destroyed Thursday afternoon, after a lightning strike hit a transformer, sending flames shooting over and under the roof.

“I was already in the kitchen for something and that’s when I saw the flames,” said Arthur. “All I knew, was I had to get my wife out.”
