Officials receive misleading murder, hostage 911 call

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Investigators do not know who made a 911 call about a murder and a hostage Friday night in New Hanover County.

Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer says dispatchers got a call from a man saying he killed his girlfriend and he was holding her parents hostage.

Brewer says when deputies arrived at the address the man gave them, they could not find anything. Brewer says the family that lived in the home did not know what they were talking about.

Brewer says investigators do not have a name or any other information. He says the person called from a landline that they could not pinpoint.
