Hoggard High School baseball field getting updgrade

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Hoggard High School baseball field is getting a face lift.

Saturday, crews began demolishing the 40-year-old field. Students, parents, and coaches lined the field to watch. Coach Tom Bowker said he played on that field when he was in school. He said it is time for an upgrade. He said the project is expensive, but with the help of the county, the school, and parents the players are getting something they deserve.

“We are finally going to get some facility upgrades,” Bowker said. “This is a traditional baseball program here at Hoggard and we want our facilities to reflect that. Our kids deserve to have that kind of stuff out here.”

Bowker said the project should only take a few weeks and it will be done by the fall. The parents are still accepting donations. Click here to make a donation.
