Hunter who killed Cecil the Lion to head back to work

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota dentist who spent more than a month out of sight after killing a protected lion on a hunting trip in Zimbabwe says he’ll be returning to work on Tuesday.

Walter Palmer tells The Associated Press in an interview that he believes he acted legally in killing the lion and was stunned to find out that his hunting party had killed one of Zimbabwe’s treasured animals.

The lion named Cecil had been fitted with a GPS collar as part of Oxford University lion research.
