Fundraiser held to cover burial expenses for man killed in Fort Fisher

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Dozens gathered to listen to music, tell stories and to make donations to help with the final resting place of Christopher Fenty.
People gathered at The Rusty Nail on South Fifth Avenue in Wilmington at a fundraiser to help with raising money to cover costs with the transportation of Christopher Fenty’s remains to his hometown of Barbados.
Fenty, who was shot and killed in Fort Fisher earlier this month, owned a landscaping business and was a local music artist. Friends and family gathered to listen to music, share stories about Fenty and talk about their favorite memories of him.
Amanda Klutz, Fenty’s sister-in-law, says everyone shared their memories of Fenty in the best way they knew how.
“Just pretty much everyone just jamming to his music. Everyone loved him so much and everyone wants to just come together so we can share stories about Chris. Since he’s passed, we’ve learned so many different people were so touched by him,” Klutz explained.
Klutz said that after his death, she along with friends and family have been listening to Fenty’s music as it makes them feel like they are still with him.
