The Wilmington Fire Department and Wilmington Police Department play in 11th annual Guns N’ Hoses charity hockey game

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A battle on ice between two departments in the City of Wilmington for an important cause.
The Wilmington Fire Department took on the Wilmington Police Department in their 11th annual Guns N’ Hoses charity hockey game at the Wilmington Ice House. Current and former members from the fire and police departments took part in the game. The Wilmington Police Department was victorious by a score of 4-0. WPD Police Chief Donny Williams said no matter the score, it’s great to see both teams competing for an important cause
“They do it all the time, we actually have current officers, former officers and individuals that are associated with law enforcement. So, it’s a combination of people in there, same thing with the fire department. We work together in the field everyday making our community safe and now we’re coming together for a good cause,” Williams said.
Each year, both departments play for a focus area that needs help in the local community. This year, the cause was to benefit the Domestic Violence Shelter and Services, Inc of Wilmington. All proceeds from the game will be donated to the shelter.
