Semifinal coverage of MEC girls basketball tournament

See who will advance to Friday's championships

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – Friday’s matchup for the MEC conference girls’ basketball championship will feature the Hoggard Vikings and New Hanover Wildcats after both teams won Wednesday night at Brunswick Community College for the Mideastern Conference Semifinals.

The #1 Vikings defeated the #5 Ashley Screaming Eagles 39-20, while the #2 Wildcats beat the #3 Laney Buccaneers 40-32.

Friday’s matchup for the championship will be Friday at 6:00, before the boy’s championship at 7:30.
