Snow’s Cut Bridge replacement proposed as part of State’s Transportation Improvement Program
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Another bridge is being considered for an eventual replacement.
Planners submitted a request for a replacement of the Snow’s Cut Bridge going into Carolina Beach.
An increase in traffic flow is one major reason the replacement was proposed.
Katie Hite is a division project development engineer for the State Department of Transportation.
She said this will allow the DOT to know what to expect in the future.
“We’re just trying to get ahead of the curve so that we are ready and kind of know what we’re gonna be up against once the time comes for the bridge to be replaced,” Hite said. “It has been submitted through prioritization and is in the process of being scored right now.”
The bridge was built in 1964 and has an estimated 40 more years of life.
There is no exact time for when a replacement project could start.
