UNCW baseball defeats St. Joseph’s; sweep home series 3-0

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW Baseball defeated St. Joseph’s 4-3 on Sunday, sweeping the home series 3-0.

The Seahawks were down 3-2 in the 9th inning with two outs, when Bryan Arendt broke up a no-hitter bid and hit a home run, tying the game 3-3. With bases loaded after a walk and an infield single, Trevor Marsh stepped up to bat and singled to score the winning run for UNCW.

“As their bat went on, I just kept feeling more and more confident seeing the ball a little bit better. Having an understanding of what he was trying to do and then he just left one there, so I took advantage of it,” said Arendt after the game when talking about his home run.

UNCW improves to 9-7 on the season, with the nationally ranked ECU Pirates (10-4) coming to Brooks Field on Tuesday, March 12th.
