Wilmington Police arrest man for alleged role in fatal February crash

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police have arrested a man for his alleged role in a fatal crash that happened weeks ago.
On February 28th, Wilmington Police responded around 11:15 a.m. to a traffic crash in the area of Cardinal Dr. and Eastwood Rd.
The driver of one of the vehicles, Claudine Coleman, 88, of Wilmington, was taken to the hospital by EMS and died of her injuries the next day.
Police now say the driver of the other vehicle, Timothy Maybaum, 31, of Wilmington, was traveling in the opposite direction of Coleman, left his travel lane, and collided head on with her vehicle.
During the investigation, the District Attorney’s office was consulted and there was enough evidence that lead investigators to seek a warrant for Maybaum’s arrest.
He is now charged with involuntary manslaughter, and was given a $25,000 secured bond.
He is currently at the New Hanover County Detention Center.
