Wilmington hosts first Riverfront Famers’ Market of the season

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The first Riverfront Farmers’ Market of the season was held along Dock St. between 2nd and Water St. on Saturday. Vendors offered a wide range of locally sourced products including pottery, flowers, honey, and of course, produce from local farms.
Owner of Old Heritage Farms Kevin Spears said this is his farm’s third year at the market, and that he looks forward to selling his produce throughout the summer season.
“We are a self-sustained type farm, we put back into the soil what we take out of it, everything’s chemical free, so we don’t use any kind of harsh pesticides,” Spears said. “This has been a pretty good little market for us, we do this market and we also do the one at Wrightsville Beach.”
The farmers market will be held every Saturday 8 a.m to 1 p.m. rain or shine.
