WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW Baseball will have a chance to win their second straight CAA Championship after defeating top-seeded College of Charleston on Saturday.

UNCW took care of business against the Cougars with a 8-5 victory at Brooks Field. A quick start put the Seahawks up 6-0 in just the first inning alone. A start that UNCW Head Coach Randy Hood said helped them secure the victory.

“I just thought we came out and had a great first inning, we put 6 and you don’t always expect that. After that, we just wanted to keep tacking on and find a way to just keep getting outs and get it later, and later in the game. Our guys did a great job.”

UNCW will take on either College of Charleston or Delaware, with the CAA Championship taking place on Sunday at 12pm. This is the 8th time in the past 9 tournaments the Seahawks have reached the CAA Championship game.
