South Brunswick softball team hits the road for the state championship
BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WWAY) — The South Brunswick softball team hit the road Thursday on their way to potentially win a state championship.
The Lady Cougars left this morning where they will be competing against Kings Mountain in a three game series. Dozens of friends, family and school faculty sent the team off with lots of cheers. When the team loaded the bus, they were escorted out of the school by police, sheriff’s deputies, and firefighters. Junior shortstop Kina Davis said she and her team have only one thing on their mind after seeing all the support they’ve received.
“We’re definitely bringing back the trophy with all these people standing right here. It’s our family, our parents, our supporters, they’ve been doing it all year. So, it’s just like the last time they get to support us so we’re definitely bringing it back for them.”
The first game of the state championship series will begin Friday night at 7:30pm at Duke University’s softball stadium in Durham.
