Brunswick County suspends public shelter at Town Creek Middle School
BRUNSWICK COUNTY (WWAY) — UPDATE: Brunswick County has suspended its public shelter operations at Town Creek Middle School.
As of 5:30PM Wednesday afternoon, the county suspended the shelter after just one person showed.
In Brunswick County, Town Creek Middle School in Winnabow is open to shelter those who need a place to stay. Brunswick County says the shelter should be considered as a last resort option because space is extremely limited. Cathy Lytch, Executive Director of Brunswick County Health and Human Services, explained what you should bring if you need to go to the shelter.
“If individuals decide to come to the shelter, they need to make sure that they bring several days of clothing, personal hygiene items, their medications. If they have a small child, diapers, formula, all of those things.”
