Public forum announced for Covenant Senior Housing Project

Castle Hayne, NC (WWAY) — A public forum will be held to discuss the application process for Covenant Senior Affordable Housing on Thursday.

The event will take place at New Beginning Christian Church (NBCC), located at 3120 Alex Trask Dr., Castle Hayne, NC 28429, starting at 6:00 PM on 9/18/2024.

Covenant Senior Housing is a project led by Pastor Robert Campbell in partnership with Keith Walker, President of East Carolina Community Development Corporation (ECCDI). This initiative addresses the growing demand for affordable housing in the region. At the forum, Remnant Management Company, the independent property manager, will provide details on the application process, rent guidelines, and eligibility. Applications open in October for 1-bedroom units ($465-$950) and 2-bedroom units ($550-$995), with water/sewer included. Rent is based on income.

“We recognize this project won’t solve the housing crisis alone, but for 68 families, it will make a major difference,” said Pastor Campbell. “With the support of our County Commissioners and the New Hanover Community Endowment’s new housing initiatives, this project shows that with innovative ideas and persistence, we can make progress toward ending this crisis.”

The forum is open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend to learn more about this important affordable housing opportunity.

For those unable to attend in person, the forum will also be available via Zoom at https://us06web.zoom.us/j/85142954108 and streamed live on the NBCC Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Newbcc.
