Wilmington Kmart closing Sunday
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The K-Mart will be no more.
The store on south college road is closing its doors for good on Sunday.
In January, Sears Holdings announced it would close 78 K-Mart stores and 26 Sears stores.
Many customers are upset that the store will be gone soon
“This one just happens to be in route when we’re down in Wilmington and I stopped in occassionally. Right now, its pretty much wiped out,” Pat Picinich said.
“Been coming here for close to 25 years I guess now and to see it go is a big blow to the city I think. Nothing really close by to replace it” Drew Johnson said.
“Anything you need, you find at K-Mart. I really hate to see K-Mart closing because this is just one place I love to shop at” Alexzeaner Logan said.
According to some customers, the store has been around for decades and they’ll just have to settle for other stores for their needs.
“Probably Walmart would be the only thing that would encompass exactly what K-Mart would have had, so that would be my next choice,” Picnich said.
“To go up to Walmart on Market Street or Sam’s or something like that, but you know it’s just not the same as what K-Mart, even though its not what it used to be, it still had some good deals to be found,” Johnson said.
The store has 70 and 80 percent off sales on most of their merchandise and only a few things remain as K-Mart bids goodbye.
