Wilmington comedian releasing comedy special featuring sold out Thalian Hall show
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington comedian is releasing his first comedy special featuring a sold out show at Thalian Hall.
Lighthouse Films shot “Cliff Cash: The Long Road” at Wilmington’s historic Thalian Hall in front of a sold out crowd of 545 people.
Cliff Cash is preparing for a theatrical release of the special during a live premiere at the Brooklyn Arts Center in downtown Wilmington on October 20 at 6p.m. The premiere will be a fun, flashy event including a red carpet, photographer, cocktail hour, and more. Click here to get tickets to the premiere.
The Brooklyn Arts Center also said on Facebook, in light of the catastrophic hurricane that has devastated Western North Carolina and our neighboring states, they will be donating 50% of the profit of all ticket sales from this event to support disaster relief efforts in western NC.
Their hope is to spread the word about their initiative along with some laughter and levity, and most importantly, hope that things will get better for our friends and family in WNC.
Cash came on Good Morning Carolina to talk about the special and how to get tickets to the big premiere.
Cash decided to call his first real special The Long Road, because that is what his journey through comedy has been over the last 13 years. Cash got his start in Wilmington at what was then known as Nutt Street Comedy. He tried one open mic and then, did not miss a single one for the next two years. Cash began touring regionally 18 months after he started. He won Port City’s Top Comic, then Comedy Zone’s Almost Famous. Shortly after, he won the regionals for Comedy Central’s UpNext and also performed as part of Standup NBC.
Each time one of these things would happen he’d think “this is the thing that’s going to be the tipping point”. He said those years oscillated between hope and disappointment. Instead, he’s made his own path choosing to live on the road almost non stop for years instead of moving to the comedy cities everyone told him he had to live in. He drove 50-60,000 miles per year for most of a decade, performing in every major market.
We also talked to Cash in 2021 during the pandemic, when his comedy album “Half way there” climbed to the number one spot after it was released on January 8, 2021.
