SOUTHPORT, NC  (WWAY) – The City of Southport suddenly has a new interim City Manager.

At a regularly scheduled Board of Aldermen meeting on February 13, 2025, Stuart Turille, Jr. resigned from his position as city manager, effective immediately. His resignation was accepted by the Board of Aldermen, who then unanimously voted to appoint previous city clerk, Noah Saldo, to the interim city manager position, effective immediately.

Saldo has been serving the City of Southport since August 2024. The Cleveland County native began his professional career as a funeral director and entered the local government sector after receiving his Master of Public Administration degree from Arkansas State University and serving as town clerk for Boiling Springs, which is in Cleveland County.

Saldo is a certified municipal clerk through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks at the UNC School of Government. He also served on the Cleveland County Planning Board as chair prior to his move to Brunswick County in 2024.

“I am grateful to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for this opportunity to continue to serve the City of Southport in this new, important position of City Manager,” Saldo said. “Southport is a great historic city, and although we are faced with many challenges, we have even greater opportunities to move the city forward in a way that serves all people, businesses, and visitors of Southport.”
