Pender Co. Emergency Services prepared for winter weather
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The entire Southeastern part of the state of North Carolina is preparing for harsh winter weather.
Pender County Emergency Management is no exception as they prepared today for what’s to come.
Pender County Emergency Management met around 11 this morning and spoke with the National Weather Service. Director Tom Collins said the plan is for staff to stay overnight.
As for transportation, they’re not concerned because Collins says they have plenty of 4 wheel drive vehicles.
All main roads have been salted, but they do urge everyone to be careful and don’t go outside unless it’s an emergency.
“What we just urge citizens to do not only in Pender County, New Hanover and surrounding counties just if you have to go out it just needs to be a dire emergency,” Collins said. “If you do need emergency services normal 9-1-1 call will get what you need.”
Collins also said that his staff is ready and prepared to address any of those emergency situations as needed.
