911 call released in Bladen County triple homicide investigation

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Newly released details from a 911 call have provided further insight into a triple homicide that occurred in Bladen County earlier this week. The 22-minute call, placed by the individual now charged with the crime, sheds light on the events leading up to the discovery of three deceased individuals.

The call was made around 7:30 p.m. on Monday from a residence on East Roberts Street in Clarkton. During the call, the operator repeatedly attempted to get information from the caller, who initially remained silent. After a few minutes, the caller began speaking, identifying himself as “Randy” and claiming that someone named Randy Denton had shot him. Later, the caller identified himself as “Kevin.”

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found 35-year-old Kevin Musser, covered in blood and holding a gun. Inside the home, law enforcement discovered the bodies of 62-year-old Daniel Dennis, 32-year-old Phillip Palmer, and 54-year-old Randy Benton. All three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. Though the caller initially mentioned gunshots, the sheriff’s office later confirmed that the victims had multiple stab wounds.

Kevin Musser is currently being held in the Bladen County Jail, facing charges of three counts of first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of methamphetamine.
