Trial underway for man charged in Wilmington murder

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man charged with 1st-degree murder for a shooting death in Wilmington in 2022 was in court Friday.

Jonathan Burgess is accused of killing 25-year-old Alexandra Faith Gillikin in the 700 block of Galley Lane in May 2022.

On Friday afternoon, an FBI agent who examines phone and computer records testified as an expert witness.

A man whose company owns BP stations and a man who is general manager at a local restaurant was also called to the stand.

Testimony in the trial resumes next week.
