Pender County Utilities urging customers to pay online due to bill delivery delay

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — Pender County Utilities is notifying customers of delays in receiving delivery of their utility bill, due to the closing of the county’s billing vendor.

The vendor ceased all operations on Friday, May 9, after more than 15 years working with the county.

Pender is just one of around 170 counties and municipalities that use the vendor to mail out bills.

Another out-of-state vendor had been transferred the county’s billing service, so bills will be arriving later than usual for many customers.

County Communications Manager Brandi Cobb said there are several ways customers can pay their bills.

“You can pay online, you can pay in person, you can call them,” Cobb said. “We also have the MyPender app which you can use to pay your utility bill and just connect that way as well.”

Cobb said the Board of Commissioners will begin looking for a new vendor to take over billing services.
