Whiteville football ready to get back to action
WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — A lot of people out there are wondering when high school athletics might start back up. Well it all depends on when the kids are able to get back into school, but this Friday night we will see a few football teams in action out on the gridiron.
Whiteville is one of the teams that will hit the field this week for the first time since September 7. Since the hurricane teams have had to miss their past two weeks of action in all fall sports.
And for teams that are in conference play on the football field, it will mean that will have to play multiple games in a single week.
“We’re going to do what we have to do,” Whiteville head coach J.P. Price said. “Strap it up on Tuesday then turn around and play on Friday. I’ve told our guys since I took this job that you know just no excuses. We’re going to play the hand that’s dealt to us as other teams are and move on from there”
The last time the Wolfpack took the field was a heart-breaking loss to East Bladen 31-28.
This friday night they will host Fairmont; a team they beat 58-16 last season, and are looking for a bounce-back performance. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday in Whiteville at Legion Stadium.
