WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College’s Small Business Center has been ranked the top-performing center in North Carolina for the third consecutive year, according to the state’s Small Business Center Performance Allocations.

The ranking reflects the center’s work supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses in the Cape Fear region. In the 2024-2025 fiscal year, the center helped launch 54 new businesses, created 185 jobs, and provided 31 jobs with ongoing support. Staff also offered 480 hours of one-on-one business counseling and hosted 162 workshops attended by nearly 3,700 participants.

Jerry Coleman, CFCC’s senior director of business and industry services, said the ranking highlights the center’s efforts to provide resources and guidance to local business owners. CFCC President Jim Morton added that the achievement reflects the center’s work in fostering economic growth in New Hanover and Pender counties.

The CFCC Small Business Center offers services including business counseling, workshops and seminars, market research assistance, and networking opportunities for entrepreneurs.
