Home featured in “Dawson’s Creek” listed for sale in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The waterfront home made famous as Dawson Leery’s house on the television series Dawson’s Creek is going on the market.
The property at 6424 Head Road, located along Hewletts Creek, is being listed for $3.25 million. The three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath house sits on about 1.7 acres with a private dock, according to the listing.
Built around 1880 from lumber salvaged from a shipwrecked schooner, the home has been owned by the same family for roughly 140 years. The property is being sold “as is” and is represented by the Sabourin Homes Team of Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage.
Scenes from Dawson’s Creek were filmed at the house in the late 1990s when the Wilmington area served as the fictional town of Capeside. The home’s dock and second-story window became key features in the series.
In a statement, a family representative said the sale marks the end of a long chapter. “Our family has cherished this home for generations, and while it’s hard to say goodbye, we’re hopeful the next owner will love it as much as we have,” the representative said. “This isn’t just walls and windows to us — it’s a chapter of Wilmington’s story.”
The home was relocated to its current site more than a century ago using horse-drawn log rollers, according to family history. The sellers, descendants of the original builders, said they hope the next owner will preserve the property’s historic character.
The home remains one of Wilmington’s most recognized filming sites from the city’s long connection to the film and television industry.
