Western Brunswick County residents could soon access new ER over state line

LITTLE RIVER, S.C. (WBTW) — Little River-area residents will soon have access to more local emergency medical care as Grand Strand Health moves forward ahead with a $350 million expansion of its facilities in Horry County.
Grand Strand Health plans to break ground next week on a new freestanding emergency room located at 1586 Highway 17 in Little River. A ceremony attended by hospital leaders, community leaders and local officials is set for 8 a.m. on Nov. 20.
“Little River ER reflects our commitment to making high-quality emergency care accessible to our community,” Mark Sims, chief executive officer of Grand Strand Health, said in a news release on Thursday. “By bringing these services to Little River, we’re ensuring families have the peace of mind that expert, life-saving care is available close to home when it’s needed most.”
The more than 10,000-square-foot facility, located off of Highway 17 between Mineola Ave. and Ellis Drive, will offer full-service emergency care staffed by board-certified physicians and specially trained clinicians, according to Grand Strand Health. It will have at least 10 exam rooms; a dedicated triage room; advanced imaging capabilities, including X-ray and CT scanning; and an on-site laboratory.
