WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority has scheduled a precautionary boil water advisory for portions of South Lumina Avenue and Waynick Boulevard.

The boil water advisory will go into effect at 9 a.m. on Thursday impacting about 100 CFPUA customers.

The impacts addresses are as follows:

  • 101 S. Lumina Ave.
  • 108 – 225 S. Lumina Ave.
  • 202 – 231 Waynick Blvd.

Crews will be working to replace broken valves on the water distribution system.

When under a boil water advisory, residents are asked to boil their water for one minute and then allows it to cool before consuming or using. Customers do not need to boil water prior to using it for showering or bathing.

Periods of low or no water pressure can increase the potential for back siphonage and bacteria in the water system.

CFPUA says before the boil water advisory is lifted, they will lab test the water to ensure it is safe to drink.
