Volunteers prepare hundreds of gifts for kids throughout the Cape Fear

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Volunteer Center and the Big Buddy Program got into the Christmas spirit as hundreds of gifts were prepared for kids over the weekend.

Volunteers wrapped the gifts, ranging from toys to clothes, for kids who were on the Big Buddy Christmas list.

The program gave out angels from angel trees to families to sponsor and get gifts for.

Gifts were picked up on Sunday, while others will be delivered on Monday and Tuesday by the program.

Chris Lancaster is the volunteer lead case manager for the program.

She said it’s special seeing so many people help out during this time of year.

“It is amazing watching the volunteers giving back to their community and being able to be a part of Christmas for so many children in the area makes me feel like a real-life elf,” Lancaster said.

The volunteer center will also be serving dinners to people out in the community on Christmas Eve.
