Southeastern NC MLK Jr. Celebration kicks off week of community events

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY-TV) – The Southeastern North Carolina Martin Luther King Junior Celebration committee kicked off a week of events on Monday.

The celebration kicked off with a press conference on Monday and will be followed by the “Conversation for Peace” event on Thursday night at 6 p.m.

The SENC Martin Luther King Junior Pageant will follow on Friday. On Saturday, the organization will host a family fun day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Evelyn Adger, chair for the organization, said it’s important to continue the celebration and honor of Martin Luther King Junior as a community.

“We live in a time and an era that we forget about human kindness and this to me is promoting our community to do better for one another,” Adger said.

The organization will host the annual Martin Luther King Junior Day Parade on Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
