Security incident near Tarawa Terrace Elementary School resolved; one death confirmed

CAMP LEJEUNE, NC (WWAY) — In a press release, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune confirmed a reported security incident near Tarawa Terrace Elementary School Tuesday afternoon has been resolved.

Out of caution, school and child development centers on base were on lockdown while law enforcement responded to the scene. The lockdown was lifted once the situation was under control and services returned to normal.

Camp Lejeune says no students, children, or staff were harmed during the incident. Although there was on death as a result of the incident according to the press release.

The name has not been released yet.

The incident remains under investigation, and no other details have been released at this time.
