Four people arrested following seizure of cocaine and gun

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — On Thursday, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit conducted a targeted operation focused on people suspected of distributing cocaine within the county.
Deputies conducted multiple traffic stops during the investigation. During the first stop, deputies located trafficking amounts of cocaine and a firearm. The second stop resulted in the discovery of additional cocaine. The driver also had a child present while involved in a narcotics transaction.
Deputies seized more than 100 grams of cocaine and one handgun. Four people were arrested as a result of the investigation.
William Hemingway, 50, of Winnabow is charged with two counts of trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances, conspiracy to traffic cocaine, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Lawrence Jones, 40, of Winnabow is charged with two counts of trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, conspiracy to traffic cocaine, possession of a firearm by a felon, conspiracy to traffic cocaine, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Okey Palmore II, 41, of Wilmington is charged with maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances, conspiracy to traffic cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, and misdemeanor child abuse.
Lamont Burst, 51, of Leland is charged with maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances, conspiracy to traffic cocaine, and possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine.
