Cameron Art Museum hosts full weekend of history, art, and reflection
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cameron Art Museum will host a series of events this weekend that focus on history, art, and community engagement.
On Saturday, February 14, CAM will hold Living History Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event includes interactive demonstrations, music, storytelling, and hands-on activities related to the United States Colored Troops and local Civil War history. The event takes place inside the museum and near the Boundless sculpture in PNC USCT Park.
Lectures are available with free registration:

1 p.m.: David Cecelski on African American life in maritime North Carolina

2 p.m.: USCT historian Jerilyn James Lee on the history of USCT soldiers and sailors
At the same time, Kids at CAM will run from 10 a.m. to noon. Children will participate in art-making and creative activities inspired by Living History Day.
On Sunday, February 15, CAM will host the Floating Lantern Ceremony from 3 to 7 p.m. Families will release lanterns on the water at dusk as a symbolic act of remembrance and hope. Live music and light refreshments will be available.
